What to Expect

Our doctors spend one-on-one time with every patient to identify and diagnose their source of pain. During the consultation, the pain specialist will perform a thorough physical exam and any necessary imaging tests to assess symptoms. The doctor will discuss the patient’s medical history and concerns to diagnose the condition. The doctor will create a customized treatment plan once the condition has been confirmed.

Benefits of Trigger Point Injections

  • Significant Pain Relief
  • Reduce Inflammation
  • Improved Mobility and Functionality
  • Reduced Medication Use
Trigger point injection therapy is performed as an outpatient procedure at our facility. Patients may be sitting or lying down during the injection process. Injections are composed of an anesthetic and steroid mixture that is strategically placed into the trigger point using x-ray guidance. These are meant to numb the trigger point and immediately reduce symptoms. Treatment sessions will vary based on severity of condition.

Recovery

Immediately after the treatment, patients should limit any strenuous physical activity for a few days. Patients may ice the injection site following therapy. Any soreness or tenderness felt will fade within days of the injections. Patients may require physical therapy following trigger point injections. The doctor will schedule an appointment after the treatment to assess the recovery process.
